Associate Designer/Draftsman

Front Office Assistant

Associate Designer/Draftsman Job Summary

This job has two main roles within the in company; Associate Designer/Draftsman and Associate Estimator. As the associate designer/draftsman you are responsible for preparing detailed drawings of architectural designs and plans for buildings and structures according to specifications provided by the client and/or Knutson Custom Construction sales agent. As the associate estimator you are responsible for compiling estimates of how much it will cost to provide a client or potential client with products/services. The job involves assessing material, labor and equipment required and analyzing different quotes from sub-contractors and suppliers/vendors.

The sales agent & design team will be your main partners as they will be making all initial contacts with current clients and potential clients. They will sell the project and you will then partner with the design team to get the drawings prepared and your portion of the estimate completed for the sales agent to then close the deal. Once the deal is closed and start date is set, you will take the project and order all the materials you scoped out, schedule all deliveries and subcontractors for the project. Working in constant communication with personnel on the field as well as the interior designer/sales agent and other staff in the office.

Duties will include, but not be limited to:

Designer/Draftsman

  • Prepare detailed architectural drawings for residential (and commercial) construction projects
  • Create architectural drawings based on building specifications, calculations and sketches.
  • Visit construction sites to collect measurements and dimensions as needed.
  • Analyze building specifications, codes, space to create the design
  • Use Chief Architect to prepare drawings
  • Develop electric and structural drawings to incorporate into drawings
  • Work with/communicate with project manager/subcontractors to ensure that construction project is in accordance with design specifications
  • Adhere to all industry standards/codes
  • Applying for and obtaining building permits as necessary and deliver to job sites


Estimator

  • Prepare estimates/take offs in detail for all designs/drawings
  • Ensure timely completion of estimates
  • Understand the scope of work to bid
  • Manage bid pricing from all vendors and subcontractors
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with all vendors and subcontractors
  • Order all materials; manage pricing and delivery of materials
  • Coordinate subcontractors throughout the life of the project
  • Coordinate with project managers of projects regarding materials and sub contractors schedules.
  • Coordinating with accounting on which vendors/subcontractors are used on each project for bill paying purposes.

Skills Needed

  • Bachelor’s Degree in design or related discipline (preferred but not mandatory)
  • Knowledge of Construction industry
  • Adept to technology
  • Knowledge of 20/20/Chief Architect or other computer application proficiency
  • Verbal and written communication
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Self motivation
  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Cheerful, helpful, well-informed, articulate, and a good listener

Front Office Assistant Job Summary

Office Assistant

The Office Assistant keeps our office running by keeping our office up-to-date, informed, and organized!

In this position you will be responsible for performing a variety of clerical tasks and support daily operations by keeping the office organized, tidy and running smoothly.
The hours for this position are currently 20-30 hours per week Monday-Friday.

Duties Include
– Answering phones, greeting guests, following up on emails, receiving packages and mail.
– Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to clients, sales reps and vendors
– Create, maintain and lead weekly status meetings with staff
– Enter billings into quick books and keep organized and filed
– Maintain office supply inventory
– Keep office areas clean, organized and water plants as needed
– Assist Managers with duties related to new hires: onboarding, applications, paperwork, carpenter medical cards
– Assist Managers with subcontractor database and certificates of insurance
– Willing to learn and manage business software program Co-Construct to create leads, schedule projects, track progress, track hours, manage messages and job logs, input receipts for budget
– Assist Managers on data analysis of completed jobs by providing requested information as needed in a clear well organized format
– Other duties as assigned by Managers

Skills needed

– Comfortable with technology to include: phones, fax, printers, google and apple products
