Our History

  •  Knutson Custom Construction was established in October of 2003 by father and son, Ken and Andrew Knutson.
  • The company started building post frames buildings (pole barns) with a small 4 person team
  • Knutson Custom Construction continued growing their business building 40+ post frame buildings per year
  • In 2006, Knutson expanded to kitchen, bathroom and other remodeling projects as well as new home construction
  • In early 2009, Andrew became a certified SIPs builder
  • From 2009 – 2011 Knutson Custom Construction continued to promote SIPs construction, while continuing to build traditional homes, airplane hangars, riding arenas, and other buildings
  • In 2011, Knutson Custom Construction built its first home completely out of SIPs (Knutson is the only company in the area certified in SIPs building)
  • In early 2012, Knutson reconstructed our team taking on key employees we felt would help Knutson grow to be a leader in construction in Northern Minnesota
  • In the fall of 2013, Knutson Custom Construction proudly welcomed our project manager, Aaron Opacich, as a partner in the business.
  • Today Knutson Custom Construction continues to strive and grow. Our growth is thanks to happy clients who have experienced our commitment to high quality work (design build, energy efficient, smart building, etc) and excellent customer service

Entry Level Drywaller, Finisher and Painter Job Summary

Knutson Custom Construction is a family-owned general contractor with an excellent reputation for design-build, new home construction and remodeling. We are seeking an individual who is eager to learn the skills of a Drywall Hanger, Finisher & Painter to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will have drive and willingness to learn the art of drywall installation, finishing, and painting. This role involves both new construction and renovation projects in residential and/or commercial settings.

Key Responsibilities to learn and assist with:

  • Get job sites ready for drywallers and painters to their jobs and tear down/cleaen up job sites once job is completed.
  • Tape, mud, and sand drywall joints and corners for smooth finishes.
  • Repair and patch holes, cracks, and other surface imperfections.
  • Apply primers, sealers, and paint using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
  • Comfortable painting to a level 4 or 5 finish
  • Prepare surfaces by scraping, sanding, and cleaning as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow safety procedures and wear protective gear.
  • Collaborate with other trades and team members to ensure timely project completion.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to use tools such as t-squares, utility knives, sanding sponges, paint sprayers, and ladders.
  • Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
  • Physical stamina to lift, bend, climb, and stand for long periods.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
  • Are able to stay on task and be mindful of the job schedule and think ahead to keep jobs moving forward
  • Enjoy working on a variety of projects
  • Are able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Are constantly looking for a new challenge and want to excel in their career
