Design Assistant

We are looking for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, but also artistic with good interpersonal skills for the position of Design Assistant.

As the design assistant you will provide direct administrative support to the design team. You may be tasked with running errands, answering phones, date entry, or even contacting clients to obtain important information.

As the design assistant you may be asked to gather samples or product for projects. You may need to visit a store in person or order materials online. If materials are delivered to the office, you will need to sign for them and inspect them for flaws. Track all materials ordered for jobs and ensure on time delivery.

As the design assistant you may need to sit in meetings with the designers & clients to help take notes, send follow up emails and/or follow up phone calls.

As the design assistant you may need to help send out projects for bids, receive the bids, look them over to make sure they are accurate and input them into the estimates.

As the design assistant you will need to work with the office coordinator and gather all the information needed for the blue books as well as keep information updated in the software management system (Co-Construct)

Some other responsibilities the design assistant may need to assist the designers with are: work with the design/construction team to make sure projects run smoothly and on time; Work with the designer and photographer to help “stage” projects for photos; help write job summaries/stories for the website to compliment job site photos; work with client to get testimonials about their experiences.

Skills needed

  – Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or related discipline (preferred but not mandatory)

   – proven admin or assistance experience

   – adept to technology

   – knowledge of 20/20 or Chief Architect or other computer application proficiency

   – verbal and written communication

   – strong organizational and planning skills

   – excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work

   – self motivation

   – attention to detail and problem solving skills

   – cheerful, helpful, well-informed, articulate, and a good listener


   – full time position
