A new start…

Our clients moved to Duluth to be closer to family and asked us to create an age in place environment, where they could have one level living and a space for visiting children and grandchildren.

We touched every surface in this remodel and reimagined all the spaces in the home.  We moved the kitchen out from the back of the home so the owners could enjoy their stunning view of Lake Superior while cooking up meals for their extended family.   We installed frameless cherry cabinets and an island with a waterfall edge to give the kitchen a more modern narrative.  We installed a Cambria backsplash that was free of outlets (they are hidden underneath the cabinets) and we used Cambria on the face of the fireplace to give it an elegant facade.

In the powder room we worked with a company in California to purchase parts and save the original mid century modern wall mounted sink and faucets. Our clients were happy and relieved that we could preserve this original piece to the home.

We created a master suite with a laundry room, walk-in closet and master bathroom with heated marble floors.  We spent time with our clients to get elements like grab bars in the exact right place.  We also found faucets and hardware that were easy to operate.  One of the perks of working with a design/build company is that our designers stock lots of samples so trying out  the right hardware that fits well in your hands is just a quick trip to the design studio.

For their lower level, we reimagined and reconfigured their space so visiting kids and grandkids had a full bathroom complete with a tub and shower.  Whimsical star tile completes this guest bath.  We added two comfortable bedrooms with a lot of closet space for out of town guests.  Luxury vinyl planking was a great solution for a durable and easy to clean floor.

Our clients are very happy with their new space and enjoying the view in their aging in place home.
